A bit of Nuts & Bolts...

Ford Dealership sign

Dealership renovation and the sign was coming down...I remember bringing it home on the trailer hoping that thing wasn't going to topple over.

1957 Buick Special

Still trying to figure out how he fit in there? A bit creepy too...

1928 Whippet

Photo from 1983...I was only 3 years old (red shorts).  Dad restored this Whippet from pieces as it was a real project.  We have been around the hobby since an early age and back then there was no internet or Google to help restore your project.  You were on your own.  Dad always said a lot of people didn't understand why he was restoring an old car - what for?  His response..."Because I can".

1983 wasn't a hot bed for collector car activity in Alberta by any stretch...but you look now at what it has evolved to culturally - and it is phenomenal.

Sobeys Heritage Truck

Photo from Halifax (across from the Citadel).  I really admire Canadian companies that celebrate their Canadian heritage and roots by bringing that message into present day.  It says a lot about the brand tested-over-time and the being a part of Canadian life for nearly 120 years.   Sobeys commissioned the work on this Model T "Delivery Truck" which has always been, in my view,  a classic tribute to the iconic J.W Sobeys heritage.

1959 Cadillac

Wedding day 2009...one of the cars in the ceremony was his 1959 Cadillac Eldorado

 Beekeeping in 1947...

Grandpa & Grandma posing in front of their first "Bee Truck" (1936 Chevrolet) as a beekeeper at Gunn, Alberta.  These old black & whites are strong, resonating photos of the life and times our families had back then.

Dad's Helper

I was working on my 1948 Diamond T and I came out of the garage and was surprised to see Nash sleeping on the fender.  How he thought that a fender top would make a nice place for a full deep sleep...this picture always makes me laugh.

Big Boy Toys

(Right) Getting the '41 Dodge 'PUG' ready before we start restoring it.  Slavik was pretty excited to climb in and start driving.

This truck was used back in the day at Edmonton International Airport   We are going to restore this to better than new!

(Below) Snowmobiling is what winter is all about when you live in the country.  Trails, frozen lakes, winter wiener roasts, Fireball Whiskey...perfect time to spend with outdoors with the boys.

Low..ride...er....get a little higher

Cool picture that popped up from someone's photo album.  1960 something...Grandpa in a 1960 Impala convertible.

'58 Coupe de Ville

It's been a lot of work restoring the Cadillac with Dad.  It has been a dream of  his for a long time and he has taken this car down to every nut and bolt.  I have helped him on paint, chrome and assembly when I can.  The interior paint was a pain-staking process with all the chrome detail on this car.... but the end result has been very rewarding. Beautiful car in black.

'Make-your-Own' Advertisements

I really enjoy trying to explore some creativity and designing "new/old" ads with the cars.  Here is an example where I used 5 ft x 9 ft Dibond boards and printed some digital creatives using Coke and Ford ad themes.  Just need a high resolution photo...and a little creative juices.

License Plate Restoration

The first item before any vehicle restoration is the plate.  Plates for the correct year are usually easy to find...however the trick in a A++ plate restoration is the crisp lines in the numbers and letters.

Kids & Cars

My boys have grown up around antique cars much like myself.  It is a great hobby that keeps all of us busy either restoring, reading, riding, or simply remembering the good times.  Always lots of questions from the boys wondering how things were made and how things work...and of course when Dad needs an extra pair of little fingers or a steering pilot - that helps too!
